Torture is one of the most serious violations of a person’s fundamental rights. It destroys their dignity, body, mind and has far-reaching effects on their family and community.
Torture is a crime against humanity and there is no period of limitation for crimes against humanity.
Today, torture and ill-treatment are under the control of AKP Government but it does not mean that the crimes of torture will not be investigated in the near future.
Under the provisions of international criminal law it is explicitly provided that state officials or other persons acting as official representatives carry personal criminal liability for torture.
We, reporttorture.com staff and volunteers, provide all kinds of legal support to victims of torture inside and outside Turkey.
We will follow all torture news, events, criminal complaints and torture suspects in Turkey until justice is served.
